May 16 2017 – So Choir! WAKEFIELD sing “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure

“A THROW YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR, LET’S GET HAPPY KIND OF RECORD” – Robert Smith, The Cure

Probably the happiest, bounciest, funnest song about being in love – EVER! Its so simple and catchy in fact that not even Robert Smith, who wrote the song, could believe that he’d written it! During the writing process, Robert Smith became so convinced that he had inadvertently stolen the chord progression from somewhere, that it led him to a state of paranoia where he called everyone he could think of and played the song for them, asking if they had heard it before. None of them had, and  Robert realised that the melody was indeed his!

The Cure are the coolest band in the world. They formed at school in 1977 and released their first record in 1978 which means they’ve been together for 40 years! Throughout their career they have effortlessly transcended the boundaries of pop, rock, goth and punk genres without breaking a sweat. They have a huge devoted following and sell out big venues wherever they go. They’ve been hugely influential on music, songwriters, musicians and pop culture. They have sold approximately around 30 million records and are still touring. “Friday I’m in Love” was released as a single in 1992 from their 9th studio album “Wish”.

So Choir! is the ultimate social singing experience.

Get together each week with friends for a drink and learn to sing great pop and rock songs together in spine-tingling harmony. Just turn up, meet up and sing! Doesn’t matter if you’ve never sung before, there are no auditions, no sheet music, no stuffy rules and you’ll never have to sing on your own – in fact, forget everything you’ve ever imagined a choir to be because So Choir! couldn’t be more different.

As always, £7 on the night, free hugs. LET THERE BE HARMONIES!!

NB: PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE SONG – WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!
