Café Choir in Selby – a fun, relaxed, social sing for everyone!
Café Choir in Selby is the morning side of So Choir! — brilliant songs, live music, big three-part harmonies and a lovely bunch of people to sing them with.
Absolutely no singing ability is needed. No auditions. No sheet music. No solos. No awkwardness. No pressure. Even if you feel like you can’t sing or don’t like the sound of your own voice (who does?!), you’re TOTALLY welcome along.
What is Café Choir?
Café Choir takes the fun, social, live-music spirit of So Choir! and brings it into the morning — with freshly ground coffee, Yorkshire Tea (what else?!) and soft drinks close at hand.
Here’s how it works: rock up, grab yourself a drink, say hello and we’ll give you the lyrics. You can choose to join the highs, mids or lows and, bit by bit, we’ll build a brilliant song together in three-part harmony.
There are loads of laughs and chats along the way, plus opportunities to get involved in our bigger So Choir! singalong events and socials if you fancy them.
Selby Town Hall | Café Choir Selby Venue
Selby Town Hall is an award-winning performing arts centre and live music venue, owned and run by Selby Town Council on behalf of the people of Selby.
The Town Hall hosts live music, comedy, theatre and other events throughout the year, with touring performers from across the UK and beyond.
The Studio is a bright, airy space with large windows and lots of natural light. It’s home to all sorts of events and gatherings — and, every Thursday morning, Café Choir Selby!
The Town Hall got VERY loud…
Selby Town Hall has already played host to one of our biggest So Choir! adventures. Earlier in 2026, 130 of us packed into this very building to record our huge three-part harmony version of Shed Seven’s Chasing Rainbows.
The resulting video was shared by Shed Seven themselves — and some of our Café Choir singers were right there in the middle of it!
When is Café Choir Selby?
On Thursday mornings, Café Choir takes over The Studio at Selby Town Hall. Access is from the rear of the building. Sessions start at 10.00 am and finish at 11.30 am.

If you love your free session and want to join us, membership sign-ups will be available on the day. Café Choir membership is paid monthly and costs £25 per month. As a member, you’ll get access to ANY Café Choir and So Choir! session in any location, any time… no booking required. You’ll also get access to our practice recordings so you can sing along in your own time as well as exclusive discounts with a bunch of excellent local businesses!
Getting to Selby Town Hall & Parking Info
Parking
There is a council-run car park right behind the venue. It’s officially called South Parade Car Park, but locally it’s often referred to as York St Car Park or Kwik Save Car Park. If you fancy free parking, there’s Abbey Walk Car Park (adjacent to Sainsbury’s), just across the road. You can park here for free for up to 2 hours.
By Train, Bus & Bike
Selby train station is around an 11-minute walk from the venue.
Selby bus station is around a 10-minute walk from the venue.
There are six bicycle stands at the venue.
